Celebrating Our 2025 Energy Policy Fellows

Watch our brand new video to hear from 2025 fellows and legislators about why the PowerHouse Texas Energy Policy Fellowship program is a game-changer!

This legislative session, our second cohort of Energy Policy Fellows brought scientific expertise and fresh perspectives to some of the most important energy policy conversations at the Capitol. Fellows were placed in key offices with bipartisan legislators serving on House Energy Resources, House State Affairs, and Senate Business and Commerce -- supporting major energy legislation, including Senate Bill 6, which will enact new requirements governing the planning, interconnection and operation of large electrical loads and generation resources in ERCOT.

From day one, these fellows hit the ground running. They staffed hearings, analyzed legislation, met with key stakeholders, and contributed to policies that will ultimately shape Texas’ energy future. Their dedication did not go unnoticed -- our fellows were even recognized on the House floor with an official resolution celebrating their contributions! See video below.

Each fellow came into the program with a background in science, technology, engineering, or environmental studies and left with the unique skills, experience, and confidence to propel their careers in energy policy forward.

The PowerHouse Texas Energy Policy Fellowship is the only program at the Capitol offering undergraduate and graduate students hands-on experience in energy and environmental policymaking. By placing fellows in bipartisan offices and connecting them with leading experts and mentors, we're training STEM graduates to become the energy policy leaders of tomorrow. Our goal is to expand the program so that more offices shaping energy policy can benefit from STEM-trained talent.

The Texas House of Representatives took time on the floor of the 89th Legislative Session to recognize PowerHouse Texas's Energy Policy Fellows and the work they have accomplished.
