Power Player Awards Recap

On Friday, October 18th, PowerHouse Texas hosted our inaugural PowerPlayer Awards Celebration. The event was a unique opportunity to honor trailblazers driving change in the energy economy, especially those who are undertaking critical work on key energy issues important to Texas. The celebration was also a chance to reflect on  milestones achieved and the impact our community made in driving the clean energy transition forward.

The Awards brought together leaders, innovators, and changemakers for an inspiring evening of recognition and celebration. Attendees from various political offices, community organizations, nonprofits, and industry sectors gathered to enjoy a joyous and fun night while marking the significant milestone of collaboration and achievement on key issues.

The event honored 18 energy and environmental leaders - showcasing PowerHouse Texas’ bipartisan mission to educate policy leaders on energy issues affecting Texans today.  In addition, twenty graduates of the 2024 PowerHouse Texas Energy Academy were recognized for their exemplary participation in the 12-week program, which culminated in policy recommendations at the PowerPlayer Awards. Finally, we had the distinct privilege of honoring eight individuals and organizations making a lasting impact in Texas.

Winners included: Julie Blocker - Rising Young Energy Professional; Dr. Margaret Cook - Outstanding Energy Policy Advisor; Nichole Saunders - Outstanding Energy Academy Teacher; Brandon Moore - Outstanding Energy Academy Staffer; Laramie Stroud - Outstanding Chief of Staff; Sage Geosystems - Clean Energy Innovator; Air Alliance Houston - Outstanding Advocacy Organization and Rep. Penny Morales Shaw - Outstanding Legislative Champion.
